Monkey Bridge

The gorge is wide and the troop wants to cross. Build them a bridge out of what you have: Team of Monkeys logo planks, sturdy gorilla pillars, chimp braces, and monkeys hanging arm to arm. Every piece has its own weight, length, and strength. Place them from the near ledge out to the far one, keep the load balanced over your supports, and when the span reaches the other side, send the troop walking. Overreach without a pillar underneath and the whole thing sags, cracks, and drops into the dark.

Monkey Bridge

Goal: build a bridge from the left ledge to the right ledge so the monkeys can walk across.

How: click a piece in the rack at the bottom, then click in the gorge to place it. Your first piece must touch the left ledge. Every piece after that must touch the piece before it.

Careful: the further your bridge reaches from solid support, the higher the stress meter climbs. Drop a Gorilla Pillar down to the floor to hold the weight up. If stress hits one hundred percent, the bridge falls.

The game will walk you through your first bridge on screen.

1. Pick a piece

Click one of the four cards in the rack at the bottom, or press 1, 2, 3 or 4. The selected card lights up. Each card lists its reach (how far it spans), its weight, and its capacity (how much load it survives).

2. Place it

Move the mouse into the gorge and a ghost piece follows it. Green ghost means you can build there. Red ghost means there is nothing to anchor to, so move closer to the ledge or to your last piece. Click to place.

3. Hold the weight up

Pieces turn yellow then red as they take on load. When you see yellow, press 2 and drop a Gorilla Pillar straight down to the gorge floor near the strain. Pillars reset the load and bring stress back down.

4. Cross and repeat

Touch the far ledge and the troop walks over for a bonus. Fewer pieces and lower stress pay more. The gorge then widens for the next level. Backspace undoes your last piece, R restarts, P or Escape pauses.

About Monkey Bridge

Monkey Bridge is a free browser building game where you span a widening gorge using monkey characters and Team of Monkeys logo pieces. You place logo planks, gorilla pillars, chimp braces, and monkey chains, keep the load balanced over your supports, and walk the troop across before the bridge collapses. It plays instantly in any web browser with no download.

Each piece has a real tradeoff in reach, weight, and how much load it can carry, so the structure has to be planned. Monkey Bridge is one of the free online building games from Team of Monkeys, built in HTML5 and Canvas.

How to play Monkey Bridge

  1. Pick a piece. Click a piece in the rack or press 1 to 4. Planks span gaps, pillars carry weight up from the floor, braces stiffen the deck, and chains reach furthest.
  2. Place it. Click in the gorge to set the piece. Your first piece must touch the ledge, and each piece after that must touch the one before it.
  3. Watch the stress. Load travels back to the nearest support. Drop a gorilla pillar to the floor when a member turns yellow, before it turns red and fails.
  4. Cross the gorge. Reach the far ledge with the bridge standing and the troop walks across for a level bonus. The gorge then widens for the next level.

Monkey Bridge frequently asked questions

Is Monkey Bridge free?

Yes. Monkey Bridge is a free browser building game with no download, no account, and no data collection.

How do you play Monkey Bridge?

Pick a piece from the rack, place it so it anchors to the ledge or your last piece, keep the stress meter low by dropping pillars to the floor, and reach the far ledge so the troop can walk across.

What are the bridge pieces in Monkey Bridge?

There are four: logo planks that span gaps, gorilla pillars that carry weight from the floor, chimp braces that stiffen the deck, and monkey chains that reach furthest but hold the least.

Why does my bridge collapse in Monkey Bridge?

Every member carries load based on its distance from real support. If any member is pushed past its capacity the span fails, so add pillars to shorten the distance to support.

Do I need to download Monkey Bridge?

No. It runs in the browser using HTML5 and Canvas. There is nothing to install.

A STOM Research game. The bridge pieces are drawn from the Team of Monkeys logo and characters. Your best score is kept in this browser only, and nothing is uploaded.
